Merida Scultura TEAM 2022

 MERIDA SCULTURA TEAM 2022

So Merida have released an update to their "light weight" model of road bike - the Scultura.

MERIDA SCULTURA TEAM

Pictured above is the top spec model - the 2022 Team Edition (here).

Merida's Reacto model is the aero highspeed bike and the Scultura is more of a climbing lighter weight bike.

Personally I think that Merida do a really good job of making their bikes look good. Even at the entry level aluminium models, they have attractive paint jobs and every now and then will also do a 'lower spec' model that has the same or similar livery as the top level Team Edition.

Who uses the Scultura? This bike has famously been riden by Vincenzo Nibali who rode for the "Bahrain Merida" team from 2017 through to 2019, with whom he won the Milan-San Remo in 2018, placed 2nd overall in the 2019 Giro and won Stage 20 of the 2019 Tour De France, among other acheivements as well.

That gives the Merida Scultura some real credibility as a world class winning bike.

Whats on the Bike:

Being a Pro Team bike - these having nothing short of the best, so Shimano Dura Ace Di2 9200 with Power Meter.

This year it is using the Metron 45 SL clincher TL Disc carbon wheels. The clearance in the frame for tyres has increased over the years. Seeing as this is a lightweight climbing bike, its a bit surprising to see that it can fit 30mm tyres, the bike is shipped with 28mm tyres which would help with the comfort of the bike as well.

Merida are saying that they have incorporated some of their experience and aero learnings from the Reacto into the Scultura model. So while this is their lightweight bike, it also has some aero advantages over the previous model.

As most other manufacturers are doing cabling is all intergrated and hidden, which no doubt helps with aero properties but definitely looks a lot neater than bikes in the past. The Head steam certainly does look neat.

In regards to weight, I havent been able to find anything official but Bike Radar have it listed for an XL frame coming n at 7.2Kg which is pretty good. So a medium would come a bit lighter than this.

It certainly looks like a top notch bike and the Scultura will definitely stand out.

So if you have the cash, and your looking for a high end lightweight bike - make sure the Scultura is on your list.
